2011 Crafting Goals- January

Sorry for the weird post yesterday! I was on my iPad hoping to make an entry and it just didn't work!

Okay, Crafting Goal for 2011

I am challenging myself to use 10 different stamp sets each month. On the 1st of each month, or close to it, I will post the 10 stamp sets I aim to use. I have 4 drawers FULL of stamps and I NEED to use what I have. My incentive, if I meet my goal, I will be able to purchase something from the PTI release on the 15th of the next month. If I don't use what I have, I NEED no more.

PaperTrey Princess Challenge: Merry and Bright

Now that Thanksgiving is here we can focus on Christmas. Your challenge is to make a card that is "merry and bright" thanks to glitter! The Nov/Dec issue of Paper Crafts Mag features some great ideas for using glitter thanks to Jessica Witty. All of the cards are gorgeous! This card is one that I pretty much CASEd from one of her cards.

You make the stripes by using different widths of double sided tape. Peel off the paper one strip at a time and cover with glitter.

This card was tons of fun and I look forward to getting sparkly all over again!

PaperTrey Princesses Challenge- Recycle

BethieJ issued the challenge to alter something that we would normally throw away. I finished up a can of cashews so that is the can that I used. This was a lot of fun! I used PP from my stash and the PTI stamp set, School Time. Not exactly sure what I will put in my altered can but I'm sure I will find something. As a teacher I can always find something to contain.

Stampin' Flybaby Challenge: November #1

Lee issued the challenge to make a card following her sketch. It needed to have at least four layers and at least 3 different types of embellishments.

Well, I think I have 9 layers and 5 embellishments. The embellishments include: ribbon, buttons, rhinestones (which I LOVE being able to color with my Copics), die-cut felt, and Crystal Effects on the candy canes.

Truly a fun card!!!

PTI Princess Challenge: 3D

Thank you, Valerie, for posting the Princess Challenge this time around. The challenge is to create a 3D box. I had this template for the Cash & Carry Boxes from PTI downloaded and I needed the extra push to use it!

Thank you, Val. Now I know what I will be making for the giving of gift cards this Christmas. These are quick & super easy to make and you can embellish as much as your heart desires!

BehtieJ Challenge #4

Of the three sets we were able to use this week, Just the Ticket was the one that hadn't seen any love. I was able to use Just the Ticket as well as 2008 Holiday Tags. The colors used were Pinefeather and Fine Linen. I like the splash of red felt along with the red embroidery floss in the button holes.

Stampin' Flybaby October Crafty Challenge #4

The October Challenge #4 for the Stamping Flybabies is to use at least one embellie but no more than three. I used the new Merry Little Christmas stamp set by PTI. It sure doesn't look like a Christmas set. I guess that is why I like it so much, very versatile.

My embellies are a ribbon and a button. Good thing we got to use lots of layers! lol

My only color, other than black and white, is Scarlet jewel. The picture doesn't really look like these all match but IRL they do. :D

BethieJ's Challenge #3

I know, I should be in bed but a challenge was issued and I needed to answer.

This week we had to choose between

1. Butterfly Dreams

2. Scattered Showers & Additions

3. Daily Designs & Sentiments

I have made lots of cards with the other two so I picked Daily Designs. There was also a twist to use the color combo of Spring Rain, Lavender Moon and white.

Well, this is my take on the challenge. Enjoy! Now I will say, "Good night"!

Stampin' Flybaby October Crafty Challenge #3

Well, it is cold, rainy and very windy. A cup of hot chocolate sounds so yummy! The Craft Challenge for this week was to make something "chocolate". It could be chocolate paper, chocolate yummyness, or whatever chocolate we could come up with to use. I have dark chocolate PTI ribbon & buttons as well as a cup of hot chocolate waiting to warm my insides. Want to share a cup with me?

I was packing up some cards to take to the church bookstore and realized i hadn't uploaded these 2 to my blog. The photography is horrible but it is still dark outside and I'm in a rush.

The first card uses Father Knows Best. I know this is a CASE from the PTI gallery so, Thank You, Disaster1981 for the great inspiration. the second one uses PTI Butterfly Dreams (All Time Favorite set!)

BethieJ's Challenge #2 & Princess Challenge-No Sentiment

Well, when time is short, sometimes you just need to multi-task. BethieJ's Challenge this week was to use one of these three sets: Peaceful Poinsettia, Tree Trimming Trio, or Up, Up and Away. I choose Tree Trimming Trio! I love the images in this set!

I also needed to complete Cheryl's Princess Challenge, to make a card without a sentiment. This was a hard one! The image in Tree Trimming Trio is large enough to stand by itself, so that is what I used.

My colors are Enchanted Evening, Fine Linen, and my tree is decorated with Raspberry Fizz w/ epoxy stickers on top.

Princess Challenge- Huff on It!

Thank you Pam for a great challenge using a technique I haven't used in a really long time. Pam's Challenge was to color our stamps with markers and then "Huff" on them to moisten them before stamping. I used this technique on my background. I "huffed" on my vein stamps after I had colored them with Creamy Caramel markers by SU! The leaves themselves are stamped with versamark. I also used the Framed stamp set and the sentiment is from Falling Leaves.

BethieJ's Challenge #1

BethieJ has issued a challenge and this is a fun one! There are 3 PTI stamp sets chosen and we each get to decide which one of them we want to use. Well, I only have one of the sets so this was easy.

The set I used was Vintage Picnic. I have had this set for quite a while and have never used it so this is a double bonus! I also used the You're invited to DINNER from Warm Hospitality.

I am looking forward to seeing next week's 3 sets!

PTI Princess Challenge- Tag You're It

Belinda's Challenge was to make a tag. I chose to add my tag as a layer on my card. Tags are so fun to make, especially with the new Tag Sale Die from PTI!

This is for Lee's Challenge to use a banner on a card. I don't have any cute triangle banner stamps or dies, so this will have to work. I had lots of fun putting in an acetate windshield and Crystal Effects headlights.

PaperTrey Princesses Challenge- Non-Traditional Christmas

Playing catch-up on my challenges. This card goes along with Michele's Challenge to use an older Christmas stamp set and to use a new non-traditional color scheme. Well, I can say I have never used Plum Pudding, Harvest Gold and Spring Rain before on a Christmas Card!

WooHoo! I did it... 7 Card Challenge

with 3 minutes to spare! At three minutes til midnight I put the finishing touches on card #7. It was so fun watching the pile of unused stamps get smaller and the pile of cards get larger.

I do need to thank Lisa Johnson for her inspiration on the Just for You card and Michelle Wooderson for her inspiration on the Round and Round card. I also got the idea for the Friendship Jar Fillers card from someone, but I can't remember who. Sorry, if it is you, thank you!!!

This has been such a fun challenge, but now I must do some laundry....

7 Card Challenge #3 & #4

On to continue my challenge of 7 cards before the end of the week. Here are cards 3 & 4. The first card uses Tea For Two Additions. I love these little tea cups and can you see the spoons on the top of the card in versamark? Too cute! This color combo is inspired by Dawn, the queen of putting the most amazing colors together and making them look great. I never would have thought to put Pure Poppy and Berry Sorbet together! Dawn did it and it looks GREAT!

The next card uses Background Basics: Geometric. Another color combo that I wouldn't have chosen all on my own, but it works! This is another "guy card" for the bookstore.

PaperTrey Princess Challenge #4 & 7 Card Challenge #2

Some times you just have to multi-task! I realized I still had not completed Princess Challenge # 4, which was to Score It. Not sure if you can see the score lines on here, but they are present and accounted for! The top score lines have black embroidery floss going between them and the bottom scores have some teeny-tiny buttons between them. Thanks Pam for a great challenge!

I also need to keep working on my 7 card challenge to ink-up some unused stamp sets. This card uses Enjoy the Ride by PTI. It was fun masking and detailing the car with black stripes. I also used SU! Glaze on the headlights. I had some requests for masculine cards in the bookstore so I couldn't do too much embellishment!

7 Card Challenge: #1

Here is card #1! This card uses the stamp set Scattered Showers Additions. The colors are Ocean Tides and Spring Moss. I also used PTI ribbon and the medium scalloped die. The umbrella comes from Scattered Showers. I love the background rain drops. Feel better, my friend!!!

Princess Challenge #9

The challenge was issued by Dana to remake a card from the past. You could use the same layout, same color combo, same stamps or all three. I chose a card I made a while ago and gave it a fresh new look. The cards are both Lemon Tart with Lemon Tart Saddlestitch ribbon, the layout is the same, but I changed up the stamps and the DP. As you can tell on my new card, I still haven't mastered my Copics yet.

PaperTrey Princesses Challenge- #8 & #10

I am doing better than I thought! I made this card for Father's Day using Masculine Motifs. It fits Mariah's challange and Melissa's challenge. Mariah challenged us to "make it POP" using Pop Dots or dimensionals and Melissa posted a beautiful picture for us to use as inspiration. I also used the woodgrain stamps, fillable frames, embroidery floss and buttons. CS is Spring Moss and ink is Dark Chocolate.

PaperTrey Princesses Challenge #11-In the Air & Friendship Jar

Welcome! Last week Mara issued our latest challenge, to make a card using something "up in the air". Well, I decided to use PTI's new butterfly set. My colors are Hawaiian Shores and Raspberry Fizz.

While the mojo was flowing, I also made a card using the new Friendship Jar set. Since the Raspberry Fizz felt was still on my desk, I used Raspberry Fizz everything else. I think I am really going to like this jar set and the dies that go along with it.

Busy Mom

Well, I haven't been doing very much stamping but, I did get one son graduated and one son married. I am looking forward to cranking out some cards again.

Congrats to the Grads

Wow! It has been forever since I blogged or crafted!

With graduation here I needed to get my act together and get some cards made. Since I hadn't used my Dotti Biscotti patterned paper yet, I decided that was a great place to start. Each card base received a coordinating Dotti Biscotti layer and then the fun began. I wanted to use ribbon in all different sorts of ways. I think I wound up with a pretty good variety. I was glad to have the For the Graduate stamp set from PTI!

The other single card was made a couple of

weeks ago. It uses the Green Boutique

patterned paper as well as Star Prints

and Fillable Frames stamp sets.

PaperTrey Princesses Challenge- #7

It is my turn to hostess the PTI Princess challenge. I hope you all enjoy this inspiration challenge.

It is spring so throw open your closet and see what you have for warmer weather clothing. When I looked in my closet I found a lot of black and white patterns and this is the inspiration for my card. When I wear my black and white outfits I usually throw in a splash of color to jazz things up a bit.

You can do this challenge in 2 different ways. You can either use my color combo for your inspiration or open your own closet and see what you find. Either way, have fun!

Happy Birthday to me!

I have to share! Here is a link to my birthday present from hubby. I am sooooo excited! When were were at Best Buy looking at their display, hubby told me to go to my favorite forum and see how it worked. Well, PTI it was!! I then went to the gallery. Oh my! Could I ever zoom in on the cards. It was the clincher for me!

Waiting for the delivery of this is almost as hard as waiting for my PTI boxes!

PTI Princess Challenge #6

Thanks so much to BethieJ for posting our next Princess Challenge. The challenge is to celebrate the new, freshness of spring by doing something new.

For my card I used two new stamp sets that I haven't inked up yet and I also used a new color combo. The stamp sets are Background Basic: Tin Type and Take Note. The color combo is Melon Berry & Hawaiian Shores. I really like these colors together and Tin Type is a breeze to line up!

Happy Mother's Day!

Well, I received my yearly email requesting Mother's Day cards for the church bookstore. These are so fun to do since I can make what ever tickles my fancy. These turned out to be so colorful and such a great variety of styles and designs. I still need to come up with 5 more by next Sunday so that is what I will be working on next week.

I hope you enjoy these and maybe find a bit of inspiration for your Mother's Day cards!

Everything that I used was from PTI except for the Creamy Caramel ink on the vine card with the Fizz flowers and the ribbon on the Sweet Blush card. The ink and the ribbons are from SU!

Card a Day!

My goal for last week was to make a card everyday after school. Well, mission accomplished! I was inspired by a bunch of old "Cards" Magazines I have on my shelf. I would flip through the pages until I found a card that jumped out at me and I put a PTI and me twist on it. It was so fun to work on my card stash again and play with some new stamps and colors.

I can't remember all of the stamp sets and colors I used but EVERYTHING beautiful is PTI! I can't even remember who my inspirations were.

I think I will try and do this again this week. Hubby is on a biz trip so we can do PB&J for supper. I don't think the kids will mind, haha!

I'm off to look for some more stamp sets that need to see some ink. With the new PTI release this week, I need to make sure I've used what I have before I purchase more supplies.

PaperTrey Princesses Challenge- Just Neutrals

Wow, what a great challenge! Valerie issued the challenge to make a card using just the neutral colors Kraft, Black, White, and Cream. Here is what I came up with for the challenge. I had seen one of the PTI Design Team members use the Outlines Alphabet stamps to make a chalkboard look. I loved the idea so I went with that. There has been lots of chatter on the forum about showing appreciation to our children's teachers. Here is a card for my high school son to give to his male teacher.
